Part 5: Deploying XenDesktop 7.6 – Virtual Delivery Agent

Welcome to the 4th installment of Deploying XenDesktop 7.6 series. In this section, we’re going to cover the Virtual Delivery Agent Deployment. VDA’s are an interesting way of making a server or a desktop be part of the XenApp/XenDesktop environment. Let’s take a closer look.

Deploying Virtual Delivery Agents

It’s quite simple to deploy VDAs, all we need to do is launch the XenApp/XenDesktop installation and select Prepare Machines and Images option

Next, we’re going to select Create a Master Image

For the core components, we have the option of also installing the receiver. I typically don’t, but in some cases you might want to have it installed

We now need to specify the location of the delivery controllers

Click Next on the Features selection. I don’t usually uncheck anything here unless there’s a specific reason for it

Leave the Firewall default options

Review the Summary and click Install!
