Hi, I have session printing setup on my farm, with a seperate Print Server on a 2003×32 box and matching x64 drivers (Lexmark UPD and Xerox Global PS) installed on my Xenapp 6.5 server. Works most of the time, however sometimes the session printers don’t get mapped.

Do I need to install the print server role on the XA 6.5 servers too?
Is it recommended to use a 2008×64 server instead?

    Many thanks for your time.

      Hi Dave,

For session printing, are you using it for thin clients? In regards to 32 bit or 64 bit, you can deploy both, and depending on what OS you have, you can use either or. You can manage both type drivers within the print server role where you have the drivers section.

Also, when your session printers are not mapping, do you have anything in the logs? It’s hard to tell without some sort of an error or warning as to why sometimes session printers don’t map.

I’ve always used Citrix Universal drivers so never really had a lot of issues with printing other than an unknown printer with some weird drivers.
